The Raila-led Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) has now responded to Kalonzo Musyoka's recent demands regarding the next presidential polls.
The Kalonzo-led Wiper Party had demanded that the Azimio leader names Kalonzo as the presidential flag bearer for the 2027 general elections.
In a statement issued barely a day ago, Kalonzo's men led by Kitui county Senator Hon Enoch Wambua informed that it's high time that Kalonzo launches his first stab for the country's top seat having supported Raila for the past years with no avail.
Responding to the demand, ODM Secretary General Hon Edwin Sifuna said it's too early for Kalonzo to begin the 2027 political discourse. According to Sifuna, the Azimio One-Kenya coalition is at the moment concerned with fighting for the rights of Kenyans with regard to the current state of economy.
With that, Sifuna affirmed that the camp is not going to listen to such demands and therefore, Kalonzo should wait until close to the end of the next five years to begin such discussions on who'll be Azimio's presidential candidate.
“The election period ended just a few months ago. It is too early to begin discussing matters pertaining the 2027 elections. The ODM party is currently focused on developing ways of pushing for the uplifting of Kenyans' living standards," Sifuna said.
“Therefore, ODM won't be involved in any discussions about the 2027 presidential battle," he added.
