Kisii Gubernatorial Aspirant Defects to UDA After Poking Holes in Raila's Azimio La Umoja Movement

Ezekiel Machogu who serves as Nyaribari Masaba Member of Parliament has ditched Raila Odinga's Azimio La Umoja to Deputy President William Ruto's UDA party..

The vocal Kisii lawmaker will be going for the gubernatorial seat.

Speaking with the Star on Thursday after giving the threats on Sunday, Machogu claimed that Azimio has been sidelining him, and giving first priority to certain group of leaders.

He said that if it means standing for the ordinary resident of Kisii county, he will join UDA where nobody is discriminated.

"If moving to UDA is all that is needed, so be it. If Azimio means well for the country, the leaders must learn to be accommodative to all who mean well for Raila Odinga," he told the Star on phone.

For the UDA ticket, Machogu will face off with Rachel Otundo, Alfred Akunga and ex-South Mugirango MP Omingo Magara.

Others who are eyeing the seat are Joash Maangi, Sam Ongeri, Janet Ong’era, Simba Arati, Transport CAS Chris Obure and also Manson Nyamweya.

Machogu has been critical in urging the Jubilee government to complete few projects that were initiated in his constituency within the past years.
