DP Ruto Receives Bad News, Told What Could Happen to UDA If He Picks Gachagua as His Running Mate

DP Ruto's hint that he would pick Rigathi Gachagua as his running mate might be a significant success for UDA lawmakers in Central Kenya, who have been pressing for the DP to pick someone from the mountain as his running mate.

But, with the DP also having to persuade people in other parts of the country to support him, could appointing Mr Gachagua be too risky?

Wambugu Nyamu, a political analyst, believes that the choice could spark divisions within the UDA political factions, especially because other frontrunners have been aggressively vying for the same position.

Senator Kithure Kindiki and his Mt Kenya East allies had been campaigning for the running mate role, arguing that the second top position should go to their region this time.

Despite her on and off again relationship with the Deputy President William Ruto, Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru has been eyeing the running mate role since 2017.
