The general election in Kenya is carried out after every five years. The last one was done in 2017. The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) is mandated to carry out elections in Kenya. Chebukati and his team led the commission that supervised 2017 general election. The body was blamed for various election malpractices that were experienced in the last general election. Some of its officials were accused of discharging their duties against the law.
This made leaders like Chiloba to be fired by IEBC chairman. After he ousted from the Commission, Chiloba embarked on agricultural activities. However according to the latest report, Chiloba has been appointed as the Director General of the Communication Authority of Kenya. His work starts immediately and will run for the next four years.
Chiloba's appointment has made analysts and political experts to question the motive behind it. Some are saying that he was appointed because of his experience in the communication sector that is clucial in 2022 general election. Was he appointed in order to streamline communication of election results in 2022?
