Wetangula, Mutula Changes Tune on BBI, Reveals What Promoters Should do to Avoid Further Humiliation

Makueni county senator Hon Mutula Kilonzo Junior and his Bungoma County counterpart Hon Moses Wetangula who are part of the Building Bridges Initiative constitutional amendment Bill 2020 Promoters have today voiced their opinion regarding the Verdict given on Thursday by the Five High Court judges on the unconstitutionality of the bill.

The two who seems to have now lost hope with the entire constitutional amendment process due to the unfavourable high Court Ruling have today shown that the whole process will be a waste of time if at all the Promoters will appeal the High Court Ruling. According to them, even if they manage to appeal the ruling, there won't be enough time to do the referendum before 2022 leave alone enough time to draw the 70 New Constituency boundaries.

"The question is not whether those of us pushing for the appealing of the Thursday's verdict will get a favourable ruling or not, but rather the time execute the entire constitutional amendment process," The senate minority whip argued.

"The latter is very long with many political motives. It involves countrywide public participation that will take time. The IEBC will not have enough time to eliminate the boundaries of the 70 New Constituencies. Besides, the entire process of appealing will take much of that time and conducting a referendum before August will be impossible, "Wetangula added.
