DP Ruto has been at odds with COTU General Secretary Francis Atwoli since the beginning of the year and recently assassinated a genuine trade unionist. In a speech to Western supporters, DP Ruto claimed his opponents, including Atwoli, had begun to recognize him as President-elect.
Atwoli predicted that his name would not appear on the ballot, but given the current situation, it is obvious that it will not. Atwoli responded to Ruto's claim that he had begun to accept him as president-elect.
Atwoli has made it clear that he will not support Ruto as Kenya's next president. Acco trying to Atwoli, Kenyans will vote in August but Ruto will not win. He also attacks Ruto's campaign in the West, arguing that no matter how many rallies he holds in areas with high turnout, he will not gain significant support.
