Alignments have started to emerge in the political arena as the 2022 elections approach. Recently, a number of politicians duped to belong in Kieleweke faction have joined Ruto's camp. Kiambu women representative, Gathoni Wamuchomba, is the most recent person to join William Ruto's side.
Nyeri county deputy governor, Caroline Karugu, have also demonstrated her dissatisfaction after a journalist referred to her as a Kieleweke. Speaking on Wednesday morning at Kameme TV, the politician warned that nobody should associate her with Kieleweke.
According to Dr Caroline, she doesn't subscribe to either Tangatanga or Kieleweke. She argued that the two factions have no agenda other than competing politically. The deputy governor alluded that she subscribes to Kibaki politics based on ideologies.
"From today, nobody should refer to me as a Kieleweke. I don't subscribe to either of those factions. I have never stood on any podium and declared to support Kieleweke. I'm just in Jubilee party and that's all," said Madam Carol.
However, the Nyeri politician called for the unity of Mt Kenya to enhance the bargaining power of the region ahead of the 2022 election. She argued that the region stands to lose in the coming election if the ongoing divisions will persist.
Karugu also revealed that she did not attend the Nyeri meeting that was organized by Mt Kenya governors purporting to chat the unity of the region. According to Karugu, this was a meeting organized to fight the coronation of Justin Muturi and this is the reason why she avoided it. She added that such meetings will only create more divisions in the region.
On her 2022 plans, the deputy governor said that she is currently consulting with the electorate before making her final decision.
