Few hours after the announcement of President Magufuli's timely death, the VP is to be sworn in to office today as the next president of the Republic of Tanzania. This is according to the Tanzanian Constitution which states that, the VP is to be sworn 24 hours after the announcement of the vacant seat in incase the President dies, resigns or is kicked out of office.
Madam Salim Suluhu who was the second in command during Magufuli's reign will therefore be sworn in and appoint a VP who will wait for the voting of the National Assembly as per the Tanzanian Constitution.
She is however, expected to rule for the remaining term since Magufuli had just been sworn as President in November 2020.History is to be made because she will be the first East African female President ever.Congratulations to her!
The incoming first in command will therefore rule for the five years that means she will be in office till 2025.It is well know that she has worked as the VP since 2015 so she must have been a close person to Magufuli.
We all hope she will be a good leader to Tanzanians.
