Taking to social media, he has described him as an elder, a confidant and a community mobiliser who will forever remain alive in their hearts and memories.
"Today I mourn the death of my friend Mzee Khamisi Mkungu who passed on today morning. He was an elder, a confidant and a community mobilizer who will be missed by his kinmen and the people of msambweni Constituency at large."
He further expressed his condolences to the family of Mkungu.
"My heartfelt condolences to hon. Raia mkungu, the family and friends for the great loss," he wrote.
He was laid to rest today in accordance to the Muslim culture.
While reacting to the post, netizens have joined the legislator in mourning the death of the Mr Mkungu.
