Professor George Wajackoyah, a presidential contender for the Roots Party, has withdrawn from the 2022 debate.
The Catholic University of Eastern Africa (CUEA), where the debate is scheduled to take place from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m., has confirmed that the Roots Party's candidate will not attend.
The party declared they would not watch the presidential debate because they did not want to "expose the next President to the joke of an already decided discussion."
The media "cannot decide the outcome of an election before the polls open," the Roots Party continued.
"The idea that certain candidates are ahead of others or in the rear is unfounded. In this crucial democratic duty of running for president, we reject being counted as "hers," the Party said in a statement.
Wajackoyah added that the Presidential Debates team had not addressed issues that he had brought to their attention in a letter dated July 21 through the Party Spokesperson Wilson Muirani.
"However, as we lay out our agenda to all Kenyans, we would like to say that our candidate is willing to share the podium with the other four presidential contenders." Roots Party Noted.
