Details On Uhuru Meeting With Ukur Yatani Emerge Leaving Kenyans Talking

President Uhuru Kenyatta on Wednesday 8 held a meeting with leaders from Kenya's Arid and Semi Arid Lands (ASAL) led by Treasury Cabinet Secretary Ukur Yatani.

In the meeting, the president declared the drought affecting parts of the country a national disaster.

According to a press release by the state house spokesperson, Uhuru instructed The National Treasury and the Ministry of Interior and Coordination of National Government to spearhead Government efforts to assist affected households including water and relief food distribution as well as livestock uptake.

However, the president's move has left Kenyans talking with some arguing that it would be better if the money used in building the expressway was used on food production.

Eliakim Mbwana,"Mere declarations are OUTRIGHT PRETENCE that the Gov't of Ke shows; a mockery to the plight of citizens. When shall the effects of drought be neutralized in Kenya? When shall we ever address even marginalisation? Even in Nairobi City, many people lack food, shelter and clothing."
