Twalib Says EACC Is On Kenyans' Side In Fight Against Fake Certificates.

The debate about the importance and verification process of degree certificate for the Governor seat position is still going on. The authenticity of Senator Johnson Sakaja's degree certificate has also been questioned but the courts have allowed him to be cleared by the IEBC. This is in spite of the fact that the Commission for University Education had revoked his Team University degree certificate.

This matter and many others have angered the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission with its Chief Executive Officer Twalib Mbarak coming out guns blazing claiming some politicians with integrity issues have been calling him. Such politicians however have either fake degree certificates or have cases in court.

On his part, Twalib claims the EACC is doing this because the agency is helping weed out such politicians. He was quoted by The Star saying, "Don't give up in the fight against fake academic papers. Support the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission, support the EACC and Judiciary. We must support the citizen because they are ignorant. Citizens are the most powerful as they will elect these leaders."

An ignorant person is someone who is lacking knowledge or awareness in general, uneducated or unsophisticated. The use of this word by Twalib Mbarak is in no way meant to insult Kenyans but to show that the EACC is politically neutral and that it's vetting politicians so that only the clean ones can be on the ballot.

However, there is a section of Kenyans who perceive the war on fake degree certificates as political witchhunt.
