Nation Forced to Change Headline of Its Article On DP Ruto Almost Slapping Uhuru After Public Uproar

The Nation Media Group has been forced to edit one of its headlines after it sparked public uproar on social media.

Sunday Nation had run a headline saying Deputy President William Ruto almost slapped his boss, President Uhuru Kenyatta after the Supreme Court had just nullified their 2017 win.

"Day I almost slapped Uhuru" the headline read.

The article stated after the nullification of the results, President Uhuru was almost giving in and hinted at refusing to take part in a repeat election.

Nation noted that DP Ruto narrated how the dram unfolded to elders from Mt Kenya and told them that were it not for the respect he had for the President, he would have slapped him.

Eventually, they reached an agreement and decided to contest again in the repeat election, which they won after Raila Odinga refused to contest.

Nation changing headline

Nation has since changed the headline from "Ruto almost slapping President Uhuru" to Ruto pushing the president to run in 2017 report polls.

However, since they had already distributed their printed papers, the changed headline has only been effected on their website

"Ruto: I pushed Uhuru to run in 2017 repeat polls" read the new headline on its website
