Everlasting Mulu Mutisya's humourous jokes

Mulu Mutisya's life and times will remain embodied not only in history books but also in our minds. His comical nature amuses everyone when his name is mentioned.

He was born in Machakos County at a momentous place called Wamunyu in the year 1920. Little is known about his education. Some people claim that he might have never had formal education.

He was a great ally of the Late second President of Kenya, Daniel Arap Moi. His courage and hard work contributed superbly well to his success in the business world.

He was nominated to parliament by president Kenyatta in the year 1974 and served in that position for a record-breaking period of 18 years.

He was later appointed chairman of National Water Conservation and Pipeline Company, a state owned parastatal by Moi.

There are several scenarios which show his comical nature; it is said that one day, Mulu Mutisya, in the company of Kalonzo Musyoka and Daniel Ndambuki went to a hotel. After enjoying themselves, Mulu requested the waiter to bring forth the bill. This is what the bill entailed;

Mutisya 5,000/=

Kalonzo 1,500/=

Ndambuki 2,000/=

Driver 1,500/=

TOTAL 10,/=10000

After a careful look at the bill, Mulu Mutisya shouted, " I will pay for everyone else but TOTAL must pay for himself. I didn't invite him and besides he owns many Petro stations around the country, let him pay for himself, I'm not running a charity organization in hotels!"

Mulu Murisya comics will remain embedded in our minds forever more.

Mulu Mutisya died in 2004 at the age of 84 years.
