Top political leaders in the country are eyeing to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta come next year when his second term comes to an end.
Some of the politicians who have shown interests include Deputy President William Ruto, Governors Alfred Mutua and Kivutha Kibwana, Former UNCTAD SG Mukhisa Kituyi and members of the One Kenya Alliance; Musalia Mudavadi, Moses Wetangula, Gideon Moi and Kalonzo Musyoka.
Political Analyst Herman Manyora has stated that Gideon Moi is Uhuru Kenyatta's favorite handshake candidate for 2022, owing to his close relationship with the Head of State and the fact that Kanu signed an agreement with Jubilee party.
"Gideon Moi is a prince, prince does not need to fight for power, he is given. If Uhuru fields him, he will not have what it takes to win the elections. This will make him 'breakfast' for William Ruto. Despite being the favorite politician for Uhuru Kenyatta now, he will be flawed by Ruto as soon as the polling stations are opened.." stated Manyora.
The One Kenya Alliance has in the recent past being spotted getting along with the president raising speculations of the 2022 succession politics.
