Dr Oparanya said Prof Kutima was the best suited leader to succeed him because he has gained adequate experience having deputised him for two terms.
"I have worked very well with my Deputy for the period I have served as a governor. He understands my development agenda and he is the best leader to pick where I would have stopped and move the county forward," said Dr Oparanya.
He added: "We have been planning the development agenda with him that is why Kakamega has been ranked number one in development. I have said and I repeat I dont have anybody else I will support to take over from me other than him."
Speaking at Lukala Church of God in Malava Sub County in the presence of Prof Kutima, the Governor challenged residents of the area, the Deputy Governor's back yard to be the first ones to rally behind him so as to attract support from other parts of the County.
"This is my deputy's home, you should be the first people to give him unwavering support to make him more formidable to attract more backing from other sub counties," said Dr Oparanya.
The Governor asked Prof Kutima to shun leaders dragging his foot behind and focus on how to marshal support that will enable him win the seat.
Prof Kutima welcomed Governor's support adding that it is a boost to his bid to replace him when his term ends in 2022.
Several MCAs led by Deputy Speaker Hon Leonard Kasaya were present.
