Kiambu Residents Response to Amazon Kingi's Question in a Rally Today

On July 15, William Ruto, the Kenya Kwanza presidential candidate, and Rigathi Gachagua, his running mate, visited Kiambu residents to discuss the Uchumi Kwanza agenda in an effort to win over the more than 1.1 million registered voters in the area. Their goal is to unseat President Uhuru Kenyatta in the general elections on August 9.

Kilifi governor Amason Kingi's speech was seen in a video posted to the Facebook page of Deputy President William Ruto and recorded at the event. "Uongo" and "uongo" mean lies.

Amason Kingi can be heard asking the crowd a quick-reply question about the most recent survey that showed Raila Odinga ahead of Deputy President William Ruto in the footage that was posted.

"Sahii wameanza kukarabisha opinion poll, ati Raila anashinda Chief hustler William Ruto," said Amason Kingi in response to a question. Do you say uongo? "Uongo!" and "Uongo" were chanted in response from the throng.

Then he urged people to vote in large numbers on August 9 to elect William Ruto as the country's fifth president.
