Former Treasury CS Rotich Fraud Case Postponed

Court gives nod for ex-CS <a class=Rotich to be charged afresh"/>The Cabinet Secretary (CS) Henry Rotitch's fraud case has been postponed until June 13 and 14, 2022. The decision to postpone the case came after his lawyer Kioko Kilukumi felt sick. The hearing schedule has been made in front of Magistrate Lawrence Mugambi on Thursday. The former National Treasury CS was accused for misappropriation of public funds that was in relation to the construction of the famous Arror and Kimwarer Multipurpose Development Dam.

The fraudulent case involves the former Henry Rotich and four others who have been charged with several offences starting from defraud, abuse of office and failure to comply with the requirements given by the law in issuing contracts that required the government of Kenya to make a payment of Ksh. 63 billion to complete putting up Kimwarer and Arror dams. As the stated by the Director of Public Prosecutions(DPP), Rotich objected the plea made on the stated dames during the presentation of the amended charges on May 26 last year. In his defence, the former National Treasury CS said that, the two accounts of the dams did not have specifics laying down what to respond to as stipulated by the Anti-Corruption and Economic Crimes Act and the Public Finance Management Act.
