Senator Maanzo Threaten to Lead Makueni Residents in Protests Should Government Ignore Their Demands

Makueni Senator Dan Maanzo has threatened to lead the residents of his county for protests against the government should the Ministry of Tourism and Wildlife not move to solve the issue of human-wildlife conflict in Mtito Andei.
Maanzo was attending the burial of Musili Musembi who was attacked to death by a marauding elephant earlier this month, three years after he survived an hyena attack in Likoni village, Mtito Andei Constituency.
In his remarks, Maanzo slammed the Wildlife sector for being negligent.
"This man was killed by an elephant when the Cabinet Secretary for Wildlife knew that elephants were around. Even Wildlife officers knew. The elephant that killed Musembi is still around, keeping our people on the run and the government is doing nothing about it. I am ready to lead the protests."
"I request the Minister, the KWS director and his officers to ensure that is the last human death caused by elephants here. If this happens again, I will be suing you for criminal negligence," said Maanzo further demanding swift payment to those affected.
