As he commenced his two-day tour of Nyamira county with a series of rallies in Borabu and Kitutu Masaba constituencies today on November 1st, Deputy President William Ruto boldly popularized his Presidential bid in Raila Odinga's turf in his ongoing bid to woo as many more voters as he can ahead of next year's elections.
His first two rallies had been conducted in Chepilat and Kijauri towns of Borabu constituency and one after the other, the warm reception that he received made him feel confident enough to freely speak his mind without fear of contradiction or causing a stir.
Then while addressing residents of Keroka town in Kitutu Masaba constituency in his third rally of the day at around 12pm, an emboldened DP chose to openly tell the people of Nyamira county why his rivals aren't anything compared to him with respect to the person that's best suited to take Kenya forward as from August next year.
On this, he started by saying that "you all know the kind of people that I'm competing against in this upcoming race.
There's one who was once a Prime Minister (Raila), another one was once a Vice President (Kalonzo) and another one was once a Vice President then Deputy Prime Minister (Musalia).
If you look at all of us, you can say that in my case and as the Deputy President, I've influenced various development projects in this county of Nyamira as well as Kisii while working with President Uhuru Kenyatta.
Projects like connecting of one hundred thousand households to electricity, opening up various roads, building three new Technical Training Institutes, equipping the Keroka and Nyamira hospitals with necessary facilities among others."
That "but for the other guys, I'm certain there's nothing they'll account for or that which they'll say they did here in Nyamira despite having served in the aforementioned capacities."
"If someone was once given an opportunity to serve as a Prime Minister, as Vice President and as Deputy Prime Minister and there's nothing that he did na miaka ndio hiyo imefika 80, sahizi ndio atajua vile atafanya kazi?" He asked sparking laughter.
He went ahead to say that "stop lying to us! There's nothing that these guys are going to do and actually they all deserve to go home early in the morning. Watu waende nyumbani buana. Maneno tunaambiana mchana mchana!"
He then asked his audience if Keroka was a "kitendawili" or "UDA" zone and the response he received made him just smile and utter a big "Thank You".
