Jimmy Wanjigi, the leader of the Safina party, has urged the people of Luo Nyanza to back him in the wake of Raila Odinga's narrow defeat to president William Ruto in the recently ended general election.
Wanjigi said the Ugenya Constituency in Siaya County has great potential while speaking at a funeral there. He urged the mourners to join him in changing their approaches to fully realize that potential.
Are you prepared to wait another ten years without power? Despite a long history of defending the liberties and values we take for granted, your region continues to be an unrecognized force. You ought to be in positions of authority, Wanjigi stated.
He told them that into achieving their objectives, they needed to be in the government.
Governor James Orengo of Siaya, who was also present at the funeral, disagreed with Wanjigi and urged the locals to continue working together in order to achieve their goal of becoming a nation in order to prosper.
"Even though your mother's house is leaking, you cannot leave it. The previous senator representing Siaya County said, "If it leaks, you fix it.
He criticized the present administration for wanting to increase taxes and NSSF at the same time.
