Amani National Congress (ANC) candidate Peter Nabulindo has won the Matungu parliamentary by-election. ANC Peter Nabulindo wins the Matungu by-election with 14,260 votes.
Voting kicked off yesterday at 6am and there was average turnout in most polling centres. However, some elderly people complained that their names were missing from the voter register despite having cast their ballots in 2017. Some voters, especially the elderly, found it difficult to obtain their biodata after sanitizing their hands.
Things were equally rough in Matungu where Kakamega Senator Cleophas Malala stormed a polling station and roughed up Homa Bay Woman Representative Gladys Wanga. Malala alleged that he found her bribing voters at the gate. The senator and his group, which included politician Stanley Livondo, chased the MP and her group out of the constituency. Kakamega Woman Rep Elsie Muhanda also had a bad day after she was badly driven out of the constituency.
