Zambia Chief Justice Dies Days After The Death of Former President Kenneth Kaunda

Zambia has been thrown into morning again after its chief justice succumbed to an unknown illness on Sunday evening. According to a statement released by the national government, Justice Irene Chirwa Mambilima passed away after a short illness at 17:00 Zambian time.

The statement from President Dr. Edgar Chagwa Lungu read that the Late Chief Justice had traveled to Egypt on 10th June to an official duty but she, unfortunately, fell ill while undertaking her normal duties.

She was then admitted to a private hospital in Cairo where she lost the battle to the undisclosed disease.

The government of Zambia also said further details about burial plans will be announced in due course.

This comes days after Zambia mourned the death of their former president Kenneth Kaunda who died a week ago. President Uhuru Kenyatta on behalf of Kenyans comforted the people of Zambia following their heavy loss.
