
In order to prepare for the general elections in 2027, President William Ruto urged Hon. Raila Odinga, the leader of the Orange Democratic Movement party, to grant him sovereignty over the Nyanza area.
For instance, the Head of State advised Raila to trust Eliud Owalo while releasing him into the people's hands, stressing that his government would not attempt to discriminate against the region even if it did not receive many votes. Ruto also inquired about the crowd's comfort level with regard to staying in the area.
