Mombasa Governor Abdulswamad Nassir has joined hands in declaring his support for the Azimio La Umoja One Kenya Alliance push to have President William Ruto reduce the cost of living.
Speaking in Mombasa on Sunday while attending a meeting of ODM delegates led by Raila Odinga ahead of the Azimio rally in Likoni, Nassir said that those who will stand with Raila will be in history as people who supported him in redeeming the country when the high cost of living was high.
The vocal ODM governor supported the Azimio's calls to President William Ruto to reduce the cost of basic commodities by re-introducing subsidies which were put in place by the former President Uhuru Kenyatta to cushion Kenyans on the high cost of living.
"When history will be written, it will be known that there was a time Raila Odinga did not walk this journey alone. No one wants chaos and violence, but no one wants to see their children sleep hungry because prices of basic commodities are very high."
"Economists are telling us to brace for tough times. When Raila says we should have subsidies, it does not mean that he cannot buy that maize flour, he is doing so because of the common Kenyan."
"It is easy to keep quiet, but a time will come when we will be remembered for standing with Raila to be able to bring back that redemption for the people of Kenya."
