Since losing the August election, Raila Odinga has insisted that he actually defeated Ruto on a fair and open election day and that his victory was abruptly taken from him. Many were surprised by how Ruto managed to trick them into State House despite having the support of President Uhuru Kenyatta.
The leader of Azimio today revealed that President Uhuru Kenyatta wanted a free and fair election, despite the fact that there are still doubts about whether he really wanted Raila to succeed him.
Speaking in Mombasa County, Raila Odinga defended Uhuru against allegations that he meddled in the election or employed the much-hyped and dreaded deep state.
"According to Uhuru Kenyatta, his government will not meddle with the election because he wanted it to be free and fair. The general public is aware of what transpired, "said Odinga.
Regarding Uhuru Kenyatta's absence from a number of Azimio events, Raila assured the Azimio camp that Uhuru, as the chairman, is still a participating member.
"There is the gospel of Matthew (Wafula Chebukati), the gospel of Mark (Juliana Cherera), the gospel of Luke, and there is also the gospel of Saint John. What actually occurred at the Bomas of Kenya will be revealed by Saint John. Although many are waiting for me to speak, I will wait for him to do so first "He explained.
