Azimio Leaders Demand Deputy CEO Ruth Kalunde From IEBC To Be Reinstated Within 24 Hours

The leaders of the One Kenya Coalition have issued an ultimatum to the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC), demanding that the commission reinstall its Deputy Chief Executive Officer Ruth Kulundu.

The group is demanding that the commission bring Kulundu back within the next twenty-four hours, and they are threatening the commission with harsh retribution.

"That the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) promptly reinstate Ruth Kulundu to her rightful position as deputy CEO within the next 24 hours." In the event that they fail to comply, we will take severe action against Wafula Chebukati and Hussein Marjan, as indicated in a portion of a joint statement that was delivered by Ruaraka MP TJ Kajwang.

The legislators who had staged a peaceful protest in front of the headquarters of the IEBC in Anniversary Towers believe that the commission's Chairman Wafula Chebukati and CEO Marjan Hussein are corrupting themselves with profits obtained from the electoral system in Kenya since 2007.

They accused them of acting in a way that was beneficial to the executive branch.

"While their actions continue to be heroic in the eyes of beneficiaries, the Azimio leadership puts the duo on notice for eroding the gains we have made in transforming the electoral system in Kenya," the Ruaraka MP claimed. They contend that the prohibition issued by Kulundu is an attempt to coerce commissioners into supporting Chebukati and Marjan's position.

According to Ojwang, "it is part of a well-orchestrated effort to intimidate public officers who stand by the rule of law but also question upholding free and fair elections." "It is part of a well-orchestrated scheme to intimidate public officers who stand by the rule of law."
