Nguu/Masumba Ward By-election Update, UDA and Wiper Parties in Race to Succeed Late MCA Harris

Voters in Nguu/Masumba ward in Kibwezi West Constituency, Makueni county begun casting their votes early today to elect their new Member of County Assembly.

The region had its more than thirty polling centres open at 6 am with the Returning Officer for the County Assembly Ward (CAW) by-election Moureen Kerebi Oyaro urging voters to turn out in large numbers and elect their preferred candidate.

The Returning Officer added that Covid-19 protocols will be observed during today's exercise with the Commission stationing a Covid-19 clerk at each polling station and at the tallying centre.

On mattes security, each of the 34 polling stations had at least two security officers deployed; with other officers deployed at the tallying centres and strategically within electoral areas to help IEBC deliver a free, fair and credible election.

Wiper Party's The shio Mwaiwa, UDA Party's Daniel Musau and independent candidate Timothy Maneno will be squaring it out to replace former MCA Harris Ngui who died in a road accident at Salama on the Nairobi-Mombasa highway.
