KANU Party Leader Gideon Moi has finally congratulated Hon Yassin Waluchio Muchelule for clinching the Mumias North Ward MCA seat on a KANU ticket in the just concluded by-elections. Moi added that they associate themselves with his incredible win and wish him all the best as he embarks on his role to represent, oversight and legislate on behalf of his constituents. Yassin Mcheluleof KANU garnered 1525 votes, Rocky Omwendo of ODM garnered 1502 votes, Abdi Mohamed of ANC garnered 166 votes and Yasin Shikilio of UDA had 79 votes.
Kirinyanga Women Rep Njeri Maina has insisted that Azimio called off the Jamhuri rally because they knew they do not have numbers and it would be humiliating. Lang'ata MP Phelix Jalang'o disagreed and stated that the turnout at Kamukunji was good hence Government knew they would outshine Ruto Jamhuri day celebrations if they had a parallel celebration.
ODM suffered another election set back after Independent candidate Brian Achieng was declared winner with 3509 votes against ODM Polycarp Wanga who got 3,170 votes in Soutj Gem ward by-election.
