Mike Gitonga, a former anchor for KTN News, was appointed Secretary of State by President William Ruto. News reporters were informed by insiders that the office previously known as the Government Spokesperson had been reorganized to handle all government communications.
Colonel (Rtd) Cyrus odhiambo oguna, who resigned in September 2022, replaced Gitonga in the position.
Gitonga will carry out a variety of media tasks as Secretary of State Functions, including conducting research, formulating recommendations, and presenting them to the State House Chief of Staff for approval before they are made public.
Through targeted pitch calls, press conferences, and email outreach, he will also be in charge of generating interest in the executive's legislative package among the community and the media.
Additionally, Gitonga will be in charge of updating content on the Office of Secretary of State Functions' website and social media platforms, as well as the creation and distribution of news releases and talking points for public appearances.
