Meet The First Indian To Become An MP In Uasin Gishu County

Hon. Dr. Swarup Ranjan Mishra also Known as Kiprop Chelule was born on 18th January 1965 and raised in Odiasha, Eastern India who later moved to Eldoret Kenya in 1997. Here in Eldoret Mishra landed a job at Moi University’s School of Medicine as a lecturer in the reproductive department where he worked until his resignation to vie for Kesses Member of Parliament seat in 2017 general elections.

Mishra successful won the Kesses parliamentary seat under Jubilee Party becoming the first Indian-Kenyan based Member of Parliament in Uasin Gishu County. Kesses is a constituency in Kenya and one of the six constituencies in Uasin Gishu County.

Mishra was give a Kalenjin names Kiprop Chelule whereby Kiprop means born during the rains while Chelule means born from outside.

Mishra being a fully recognized as a Kalenjin, he speaks Kalenjin language fluently and interact with his people who elected him as their MP freely.

Apart from being an MP for Kesses Constituency, Mishra Kiprop Chelule is also a businessman who run Mediheal Hospitals in Nairobi and Eldoret town. Through his business he has provided job opportunities to the locals by giving the the first priority. He has also help the area residents with food, masks and sanitizers during this time of covid-19 pandemic.
