Azimio La Umoja-One Kenya coalition party presidential candidate Raila Odinga's spokesperson professor Makau Mutua, has weighed in on the postponement of the Mombasa and Kakamega gubernatorial elections by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission.
Taking to his social media pages, Makau argued that the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission chairman Wafula Chebukati does not have any constitutional rights to postpone the polls which were supposed to be held on the general elections date.
According to Makau Mutua, the scheme is to benefit the United Democratic Alliance party or rather Kenya Kwanza alliance which is the main rival of the Orange Democratic Movement party in the two counties which are still being led by the party's governors.
"The IEBC Chair Wafula Chebukati has no legal authority to unilaleraly postpone again the Mombasa and Kakamega gubernatorial elections. Only UDA/KK can benefit from such an unjustifiable and blatant act of impunity." He posted on his official social media pages.
