Kalonzo met with Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru in her official residence Kagio where they had time to discuss matters of national intetest.It majorly concerned on how to take the country forward and equip the society.Kalonzo warmly invited Waiguru to join One Kenya Alliance Party.
Responding to the invite, Governor Waiguru said that she was still weighing many options and will inform Kenyans about her own decision when such a time comes.She however added that at the moment she is defending her seat and appealed to political parties to open doors for more women to join and be among the builders of our country.
Kalonzo is one of the OKA principals who came together with the aim of forming a strong coalition that would support a single presidential candidate in the next general election. So far so good Kalonzo, Gideon and Mudavadi have given indications that all will be vying for the presidential sit separately.None have found a suitable running and Waiguru have been touted to be the best running mate for the presidential seat.
Even though the governor has noted her intention of defending her seat, there has been push from some of her supporters for her to go for the deputy president’s seat.A person with a female running mate is seen to have many voters in the next elections due to gender equality.
