The head of the Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI) Amin Mohamed has broken down another special unit of officers in his department. As reported by the The Star newspaper, Amin disbanded anti-counterfeit unit then transferred all the senior commanders who were heading that unit. The special unit was created by the former DCI Boss George Kinoti to deal with counterfeit consignments.
This is not the first unit that the newly appointed officer has disbanded. Immediately after his inception into office, Amin broke down the infamous SSU killer squad. The squad, also formed during Kinoti's reign, was accused of being incharge of a series of extra judicial killings that took place during former President Uhuru Kenyatta's regime.
Some of the officers of the lethal squad currently have murder cases to answer in court. The officers however claimed to being persecuted for offences they are not calpable of. They claimed their innocence saying they were acting on orders from their seniors.
