The immediate former Chief Justice David Maraga on Monday, 16, January 2023 paid a courtesy call to the Inspector General-NPS, Mr. Japhet Koome at his offices in Nairobi.
The former Chief justice's visit comes days after President William Ruto appointed him to chair a 20-member task force to review police officers’ welfare in the country.

The former Chief Justice has been holding high profile meetings as he leads the Taskforce on its mandate as directed by President William Ruto when he constituted it.

According to the Police Service, the former chief Justice and the Inspector General two agreed on the support and mutual cooperation expected from both sides to facilitate in the collection of views.

According to the police Service, other officials who attended the meeting were; the DIG KPS, Mr. Edward Mbugua, DIG APS, Mr. Noor Gabow, Director DCI Mr. Mohamed Amin and the Principal Assistant to the IG, Mr. Abdallah Komesha.

The Maraga led commission is tasked with accessing and recommending improvement of working and living conditions of police officers, identifying and recommend legal, policy, administrative, institutional, and operational reforms in the National Police Service (NPS) and Kenya Police Service for effective service delivery among other duties in bid to better the service.
