Leaders from both parties have agreed to assist their rivals in the event of a hung parliament, regardless of their political disagreements. Ruto was informed by Martha Karua of what could happen should Azimio win the election.
As the presidential race heats up, Ms. Karua's visit comes at an opportune time for the two leading presidential contenders, Raila Odinga and Deputy President William Ruto.
Speaking at several campaign engagements in the Njoro sub-county, Ms Karua said the Azimio la Umoja administration will treat Deputy President William Ruto well and enable him to retire in peace while they focus on reviving the Kenyan economy.
"My competitors say they plan to probe and imprison President Uhuru Kenyatta when they assume power, but I want to reassure them that we will treat them with respect. If we take over the country's leadership, we won't get them into any trouble," Ms Karua said while addressing residents of Mau Narok.
"As the future Deputy President and Justice Minister, I want to tell them that we will treat them and their rights with the same respect as all Kenyans. Attempting to imprison Uhuru Kenyatta if he becomes president is disgraceful, Which Kenya will he be the president of?" Martha Karua said.
