Senator Cherargei Reacts After President Ruto Was Received Warmly in Raila's Backyard

Samson Cherargei, a senator from Nandi County, claims that the fact that His Excellency the Head of State President William Ruto was welcomed in Raila Odinga's backyard does not indicate that a handshake may be forthcoming.

He claimed that since the president would represent all the areas of the nation, whether or not they had supported him in the election, he would make sure that everyone benefited from progress.

The elected senator from the United Democratic Alliance movement Party remarked that the opposition would continue to play a part because Kenyan democracy is now at a very advanced stage.

"Irrespective of their party connections or votes, H.E. Ruto would not abandon any portion of Kenya in terms of development or unity. By no means does this imply a handshake; rather, it means that the opposition must continue to perform their proper role. Democracy has matured. Awouro" Congressman Samson Cherargei

Just hours prior, Raila Odinga loyalists in the counties of Homabay, Kisumu, and Siaya extended a cordial welcome to His Excellency the Head of State President William Ruto and his delegation.

The Head of State, who has arrived in those areas with gifts that would considerably aid the region's development over the next few days, has also been welcomed by the locals there.
