One of the greatest losers in the recently concluded general elections is Jubilee Party. The ruling party which dominated in 2017 elections failed to reclaim it's prowess in 2022 poll and instead it was shadowed by the newest political kid in town_UDA.
In Mt Kenya where the party's has it's roots, it succumbed to Ruto-led party with majority of it's lieutenants receiving a rounded beating from their UDA counterparts. Was this loss accidental? Well, not exactly.
Prior to August poll, former Meru governor_Kiraitu Murungi raised alarms citing that once powerful Jubilee Party was on it's dying phase and unless a complete overhaul was done to regurgitate the party, then a loud fall was imminent.
In his book titled; Beyond Politics, Kiraitu described the ruling party as a clueless, rudderless, planless and disorganized party. Perhaps the party's loss in Juja, Kiambaa and Msambweni by-elections was a prelude of what was about to befall the giant party but those tasked to steer the party failed to read signs.
Assuming Kenyatta II who is the party leader heeded and flaunted Murungi's political counsel, then things would have perhaps been different. Among the blunders the party committed was the shoddy nomination exercise where party certificates were issued to candidates without merits.
