The race to succeed incumbent Uasin Gishu Governor Jackson Mandogo seems to have gained momentum with famous Businessman Bundotich alias Buzeki expressing clear indications that he is a man to beat in the populous Rift Valley county.
This was after Buzeki, who has been a fierce critic of DP William Ruto and his UDA party, got an overwhelming reception in Huruma grounds Eldoret, during a tournament in remembrance of the Late Huruma MCA Peter Chomba.
Buzeki, who was among the invited guests, was cheered wildly when he took to the stage to address the residents who had turned up in numbers.
The independent candidate promised to take over the mantle from Jackson Mandago once his term comes to an end in 2022.
"I will be here to stand with you and when you see the clouds, it's a clear indication of a looming rainfall. The country's constitution has officially ended Mandago's term and when he leaves, I will be the one doing him his last party and I will bring you the change you need once I am elected," said Buzeki amid wild cheers from the residents.
He welcomed his other competitors from the UDA party looking forward to competing with him, promising them a bruising battle in 2022.
This seems to have sent DP William Ruto's UDA team led by aspiring candidates MP Caleb Kositany, politician Jonathan Kimeli Bii aka Chelilim, and ambassador Julius Bitok back to the drawing board.
Buzeki came second to Mandago in 2017 and is expected to give UDA aspirants in Uasin Gishu a hard time in 2022. He has already vowed not to join UDA, saying he will be facing them using an independent ticket.
