The independent electoral and boundaries commission led by chairperson Wafula Chebukati held elections on 9th August 2022 for the members of county assemblies, members of parliament, women representatives, senators, governors and the president.
Kenyans voted on 9th August 2022 and vote counting and tallying began immediately, results for the presidential seat took several days for them to be announced by IEBC chairman.
The presidential results were set to be announced on 15th August 2022, prior to the announcement of the elections at Bomas by Wafula Chebukati at the Bomas of Kenya, four commissioners: Juliana Cherera, Irene Masit, Justus Nyangaya, and Francis Wanderi held a presser at Serena hotel where they disowned results that were set to be announced by Wafula Chebukati.
Wafula Chebukati declared William Ruto as president-eelect with7.176M votes, Raila Odinga with 6.9M votes, then George Wajackoyah, and ultimately David MMeasure
ACK Archbishop Jackson Ole Sapit has now alleged that Wafula Chebukati called them with tension and asked them to pray for him, he ththenent ahead to declare the election results.
