Raila Amolo Odinga, presidential candidate and ODM party leader, is the leader of the Azimio La Umoja One Kenya Coalition Political Party. The coalition comprises approximately thirty political parties in Kenya, with the Kenya Kwaza Alliance, led by Deputy President William Samoei Ruto, appearing to be its principal adversary ahead of the keenly anticipated general elections on August 9.

As the election date draws nearer, big political developments are occurring simultaneously with the intensification of national campaigns.
A group of leaders from the North Rift have formally defected to the Raila-led Azimio La Umoja One Kenya, dealing a crushing blow to the Kenya Kwaza Alliance, which is led by Ruto. On Tuesday, the Azimio North Rift team met with representatives from the UDA and ANC parties.

This latest development appears to be a game-changer for Raila and Azimio, as the North Rift region is considered one of DP Ruto's strongholds in Kenya.
