Blame Game, DP Ruto And His Allies Blame President Uhuru For His State Of Nation Address

DP Ruto addressing the residents of Nyeri on December 4, 2021.

Allies of Deputy President William Ruto have denounced President Uhuru Kenyatta following his statement last week criticizing his deputy for what he called engaging in early campaigns and going too fast.

Malindi MP Aisha Jumwa and her Kikuyu counterpart Kimani Ichungwa denounced the president, saying they would not be forced to slow their momentum.

"Wale wameona kuwa tuko na candidate, tuko na chama, na tuko na sera, ati sasa tutembee polepole tuwangojee?" Ichungwa said on Saturday during the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) campaign tour in Nyeri County.

“Tunataka tuwaambie hao wanasema tuko na mbio ndio tuwasubiri, hatupangwingwi,” Jumwa said.

Ruto's return for the second leg of his race to Nyeri comes barely a week after ODM chief Raila Odinga campaigned there as the scramble for the vote-rich Mount Kenya region , intensifies.

For his part, the DP has pledged to ensure that all pending campaign pledges from 2013 and 2017 are honored if he is elected president in next year's polls.

He further added that the top of his presidential manifesto was the implementation of health bills to make health care affordable for all.

“Next year, the first hundred days za serikali ya mwaka ujao, tutahakikisha kuna bima ya afya ambayo itagharamia matibabu ya kila Mkenya na watu hawatauza mali yao kulipa bills za hospitali,” Ruto said.

Saturday's tour saw Ruto address rallies in the towns of Karatina, Othaya and Nyeri.
