The Independent Electoral Boundaries Commission (IEBC) Chairman Wafula Chebukati has been urged to nominate the runners-up of the August 9 presidential elections (Raila Odinga) as nominated Members of Parliament to the National Assembly in a petition filed by a Nairobi architect named Nyongesa Makhanu.
In addition, Mr. Nyongesa contends that a presidential candidate's running mate should be nominated directly to the Senate. With that, one of the biggest political comebacks to Parliament could now occur.
Thirteen years ago, when he was an MP for the Langata seat, Raila last served as a member of parliament. However, Martha Karua would be serving in the Senate for the first time since Devolution began in 2013, in accordance with the 2010 Constitution.
