Kalonzo has continued being a tough negotiator for the running mate slot. Unlike other candidates, he has made it clear it is his way or the highway. Today's message just before Azimio announces its candidate seems to imply he will be on the ballot should Raila pick another deputy over him.
Kalonzo retweeted an image of a 3 horse race that was shared by his personal aide Paloma Gatabaki. This corresponds to what Wiper leaders Daniel Maanzo and Mutula Kilonzo Jnr have been saying. That Kalonzo will be on the ballot as an independent candidate. They are also looking for means for Kalonzo to vie as Wiper candidate. They have gone to the high court to pull out of Azimio coalition.
If Kalonzo goes on with his threat, it might split Kamba votes. He might not get the whole region as a block because Kivutha Kibwana and Charity Ngilu will be on Azimio side while Alfred Mutua and Johnstone Muthama are in Kenya Kwanza. This will likely split the votes three ways.
