The vocal KMPDU Secretary General Dr Ouma Oluga resigns as Kenya Medical Practitioners, Pharmacists and Dentists Union. (KMPDU) Secretary General after being appointed by Joseph Kinywa as Nairobi City County Chief Officer for Health. Ouma Oluga served as KMPDU secretary general for many years and was based in Vihiga County most of the times.
The latter is set to work under the new management of Nairobi metropolitan services that is headed by General Muhammed Badi who was appointed by president Uhuru Kenyatta earlier this month.
It should be noted that Nairobi governor, Mike Mbuvi Sonko surrendered four of his roles to the national government. The memorandum was signed by President Uhuru Kenyatta under the watch of Cabinet secretary for Devolved Government Hon Eugine Wamalwa, CS Matiangi, Amina Kagwe among many others.
Dr Oluga's appointment comes at a critical time where the ministry has announced the death of one Corona virus patient from Aga Khan Hospital in Nairobi.
However many have opposed the move because it may be politically motivated. Some of Nairobi residents said that Oluga will be blocked by city cartels who are very corrupt.
