The Luo nation might vote for President William Ruto in 2027 if ODM party leader Raila Odinga will not be on the ballot, Homa Bay Nominated MCA Florence Achieng' Ouma has said.
The vocal ODM politician said residents of Nyanza might support Ruto's re-election if the region's political kingpin will not make his sixth attempt at the presidency.
"If Baba is not on the ballot, Luos might side with William Ruto....just a 'MAYBE'," said Achieng' who was eyeing Homa Bay Woman Representative position in last year's polls.
The MCA made the remarks after Ruto received a warm welcome from Homa Bay leaders and residents when he landed in the area on Friday for a two-day tour of Nyanza counties.
Speaking after commissioning the Homa Bay Municipal Market and the Affordable Housing project, the President made fun of the few votes he got in August 2022 election saying Nyanza residents have a debt to repay him.
He noted Raila got meaningful support in his Rift Valley backyard and in Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua's Mt Kenya turf.
"In my region and in DP Rigathi Gachagua's region, Agwambo got 28 and 25 per cent of the votes respectively. You gave me only one per cent," Ruto said as quoted by The Star.
"And I had warned you that if you continue discriminating me, I will report you to God," he added.
