Raila to Back Someone Else? Odinga's Remarks Ahead of His Friday Announcement Raises Eyebrows

Raila Odinga, the leader of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM), has stated that he can back anyone for presidency and that he is still eager to negotiate with leaders that support his Azimio La Umoja platform.

This, according to Raila, is why he has yet to declare his presidential candidacy for the 2022 general elections.

The ODM leader went on to say that he is under no obligation to run for president and that he can only support a candidate with a good chance of winning. In addition, the former Prime Minister announced that he is consulting Kenyans on whether or not to run for President to take over from President Uhuru Kenyatta.

In an event on Friday at Kasarani stadium, the former premier is expected to outline his plans for the 2022 general elections.

Raila Odinga is reportedly courting erstwhile NASA partners Moses Wetangula, Kalonzo Musyoka, and Musalia Mudavadi in order to establish a powerful alliance against DP Ruto.

Musalia Mudavadi, the Amani National Congress (ANC) leader, has indicated that he will not back down or play second fiddle to anyone, and that he will run for president in the general elections of 2022.
