Mike Gitonga a former KTN news anchor has been appointed as the new secretary of state functions by the President William Ruto today. Different news reporters has received confirmations from inside sources that the office, which is in charge of managing all government communications was reorganized from the government spokesperson's position.

Gitonga have taken over the role that was being held by Colonel Cyrus Odhiambo. He resigned on September 2022. As a secretary of State, the new appointed government spokesperson Mike Gitonga will handle all the media related tasks. This includes carrying out research, creating suggestions and submitting them for approval to the Statehouse Chief of Staff.

Gitonga is also going to be in charge of stocking interests in the executive's legislative purpose among the media and the general public. He will also be in charge of creating and disseminating press releases and developing talking points for public appearances.
