Numbers In Ruto's Strongholds Versus Raila's Turf Ahead Of The Final Voter Registration.

The race to inherit president Uhuru kenyatta is entering homestretch with Kenyans only waiting to know who the running mates to the foremost presidential contenders would be.

Both the Deputy president William Ruto and ODM leader Raila Odinga are likely to pick their deputies from mount Kenya region.

The choice of a running mate is a Political hot potato for the two given that it may lead to a fallout if not well handled.

Of all the 47 counties, there are those ones Which are considered to be swing regions whereas others are just political 'bedrooms' of respective kingpins.

Raila Odinga is likely to beat Ruto in all the Nyanza counties which include kisii, Nyamira, Homabay, migori, Kisumu and Siaya.

The DP on his side will most likely beat Raila in all the vote-rich mount Kenya and rift Valley counties.

According to last year's opinion polls, Deputy president Ruto had a commanding lead in Nairobi county.

The IEBC is set to begin it's final voter registration on Monday January 17 in an excercise that will run up to February 6.

In 2017, the Total number of voters in the register was 19.6 million. However the number changed when the commission carried out another exercise last year.

This therefore means that currently, the total number of registered voters stands at 21.1 million.

The Commission is targeting to register 4.5 million new voters countrywide in the coming weeks.

Below are the numbers in DP Ruto and Raila Odinga's strongholds ahead of the final registration.

Rift valley (5.09m) Nairobi (2.4m), North Eastern (572 116m),Nyanza (2.9m), Lower eastern (1.61m), Upper eastern (1.54 m)Western (2.08m)Central (3.05m)Coast (1.85m ).

After the final registration, audit of the register by a reputable firm will be done and a report given within 30 days so that IEBC can implement.
