Kenya was removed from the United Kingdom’s Red List and placed on Amber among seven other countries that included Pakistan, Egypt, Bangladesh, Oman, Maldives, Sri Lanka and Turkey. This means UK travellers to or transiting from Kenya will be exempted from hotel quarantine.
The removal was successful after UK Member of Parliament Theo Clarke came out to defend the British decision to remove Kenya from that list. On Tuesday, September 21, Clarke stated that Kenya did not need to be added to that list and asked Transport Secretary to check on that.
She further added that excluding Kenyans, who are fully vaccinated from the 10-day quarantine, will benefit the country as it will be a step towards boosting trade.
“In Parliament, I welcomed that from Wednesday #Kenya is not on the Red List. This will help boost Trade between UK and Kenya. I urged Transport Secretary Grants Shapps to reduce restrictions further for fully vaccinated people arriving from Kenya & he agreed to work with me on this,” she said.
